My Walk

 My Walk

The topic I have chosen to take my walk with is dating.  I have put this aspect of my life to the way side.  I live in a very small town and there are not many single men to date.  Those that I have dated have come to the conclusion that we would not suet. I have chosen this aspect as many people have suggested online dating.  As I have prayed about this I have realized that I need to branch out and meet new people.  Each week I have spent 30 minutes researching profiles and looking for people that I may have something in common with.  As each week came and went with small success in finding people I was willing to speak with.  Each week I tried to find 10 new people to start a conversation with. I can honestly say this is harder than I thought it would be.  The ones I want to talk with don't want to talk to me and the ones I don't want to have anything to do with are the ones that wish to talk with me.  I have had to learn to change my profile to hopefully distract certain types of guys from contacting me.  This last week I have had the most success and had a satisfying conversation with someone.  I will continue to work on this as it is a good way to work on my communication skills.  If nothing else I could make some amazing friends as I work towards finding a mate to spend my life with.

Finance/Food Storage

Finance/Food Storage

“Our guide for credit management should be: borrow only what we must, at the lowest rate available, for the shortest time possible. This requires restraint of appetites and practice of the time-honored virtue of frugality. There is an insidious philosophy that advocates plunging into debt and letting inflation pay it off. I reject this philosophy. If we all operated on that premise, we would completely subvert our economic system. As long as we secure our debt with equity, we can manage it; but to amass debt by pledging future earnings submerges us in financial quicksand.” The Household of Faith, J. Richard Clarke, October, 1980

“Parents need to teach children very early that a solid financial base is a very important element in a happy home. We can do much with our young people to help them find satisfying, rewarding employment. We should encourage them to do well in their schoolwork and to learn to take advantage of opportunities that will help build a solid base for their future security.” Providing for our Needs, M. Russell Ballard, April, 1981

“The third key is to practice self-discipline both at our work and as we attempt to reduce our expenses in our homes. Regarding the latter, Church leaders should set the example by seeing that stake and ward financial requests are kept to a minimum. Members should—
1. Avoid debt-pooling where exorbitant fees are charged. We may want to consolidate debts using a bank or credit union loan that can be repaid at a sensible interest rate over a reasonable length of time. We may need to stop using our credit cards.
2. Exercise self-discipline by telling ourselves “We can’t afford it” and refusing to take on further credit obligations.
An argument was overheard one day. One spouse said, while scolding the other for extravagant spending, “How many times do I have to tell you that spending money before you get it is economically unsound?”
“Oh,” said the other spouse, “I don’t know about that. This way, if you don’t get the money, at least you have something to show for it.”
Please be patient and carefully control your purchases so that you will not become enslaved to your creditors.
3. Make a budget and stick to it.
4. Cut expenses by distinguishing between wants and needs. Economize by controlling the use of goods, services, and energy.
5. Increase homemaking skills and have family members’ complete home and car repairs, when feasible.

6. Invest wisely. Avoid speculations and get-rich-quick schemes.” Providing for our Needs, M. Russell Ballard, April, 1981

“In seeking to become more self-sufficient, the people have incorporated the principle of sacrifice into their lives and have increased their faith.” Sacrifice and Self-Sufficiency, Elder Ballard, October 1987

“Food production is just one part of the repeated emphasis that you store a provision of food which will last for at least a year wherever it is legally permissible to do so. The Church has not told you what foods should be stored. This decision is left up to individual members.” Prepare for the days of Tribulation, Ezra Taft Benson, October, 1980

“You do not need to go into debt, may I add, to obtain a year’s supply. Plan to build up your food supply just as you would a savings account. Save a little for storage each pay-check. Can or bottle fruit and vegetables from your gardens and orchards. Learn how to preserve food through drying and possibly freezing. Make your storage a part of your budget. Store seeds and have sufficient tools on hand to do the job.” .” Prepare for the days of Tribulation, Ezra Taft Benson, October, 1980

When Sister Bednar was a young woman, her mother used the data in the ledgers to emphasize basic principles of provident living and prudent home management. One day as they reviewed together various categories of expenses, her mother noted an interesting pattern. The costs for doctor visits and medicines for their family were far lower than might have been expected. She then related this finding to the gospel of Jesus Christ and explained to her daughter a powerful truth: as we live the law of tithing, we often receive significant but subtle blessings that are not always what we expect and easily can be overlooked. The family had not received any sudden or obvious additions to the household income. Instead, a loving Heavenly Father had bestowed simple blessings in seemingly ordinary ways.” The windows of Heaven, Elder David A. Bednar, October 2013

“the family was financially somewhat prepared, in that they had food storage and some money saved. But they were not prepared for the emotional shock of unemployment. The wife recalled that the single greatest help the family received to lessen the trauma of that experience was the love and sympathetic concern shown by the sisters of Relief Society.” Relief Society in Welfare, Marian R. Boyer, October 1981

“Remember this: debt is a form of bondage. It is a financial termite. When we make purchases on credit, they give us only an illusion of prosperity. We think we own things, but the reality is, our things own us.” Earthly Debts, Heavenly Debts, April 2004

“The best food storage is not in welfare grain elevators but in sealed cans and bottles in the homes of our people. What a gratifying thing it is to see cans of wheat and rice and beans under the beds or in the pantries of women who have taken welfare responsibility into their own hands.” In the Arms of His Love, Gordon B. Hinckley, October, 2006

It was harder to find quotes for this then I thought it would be. Many of the articles quoted from other articles.  The information is the same 30 years ago as it is today.  In fact it is more important today than 30 years ago.  We need to live within our means and work to create the finances needed to live.  As we work towards having at least two years worth of food storage in our homes we become better able to handle emergencies as they come to us.  No one knows when we will be with out a job or in a situations where we have less funds then we normally do. Both having extra money saved and having food stored can help us through the hard times.  I am grateful for this knowledge as there have been many times in my life that I have needed to use this.

Temple

Temples

“My brothers and sisters, temples are more than stone and mortar. They are filled with faith and fasting. They are built of trials and testimonies. They are sanctified by sacrifice and service.” The Holy Temple—a Beacon to the World, Thomas S. Monson, April, 2011

“Those who understand the eternal blessings which come from the temple know that no sacrifice is too great, no price too heavy, no struggle too difficult in order to receive those blessings. There are never too many miles to travel, too many obstacles to overcome, or too much discomfort to endure. They understand that the saving ordinances received in the temple that permit us to someday return to our Heavenly Father in an eternal family relationship and to be endowed with blessings and power from on high are worth every sacrifice and every effort.” The Holy Temple—a Beacon to the World, Thomas S. Monson, April, 2011

“Recognize that much of the majesty of the sealing ordinance cannot be understood and remembered with one live experience. Substantial subsequent vicarious work permits one to understand much more of what is communicated in the live ordinances.” Temple Worship: The Source of Strength and Power in Times of Need, Elder Richard G. Scott, April 2009

“is that when we keep the temple covenants we have made and when we live righteously in order to maintain the blessings promised by those ordinances, then come what may, we have no reason to worry or to feel despondent.” Temple Worship: The Source of Strength and Power in Times of Need, Elder Richard G. Scott, April 2009

“Temple ordinances, covenants, endowments, and sealings enable individuals to be reconciled with the Lord and families to be sealed beyond the veil of death.” Personal Preparation for Temple Blessings, Russell M. Nelson, April 2001

“Because the temple is the house of the Lord, standards for admission are set by Him. One enters as His guest.” Personal Preparation for Temple Blessings, Russell M. Nelson, April 2001

"The sacred nature of the temple clothing. In the temples all are dressed in white. White is the symbol of purity.
    - The temple is the Lord’s classroom. President Hinckley has said, “[The temple] becomes a school of instruction in the sweet and sacred things of God” (Teachings, 635).
    - What it means to be worthy for the temple. Can we teach our children that receiving one’s endowment and the wearing of the sacred garment will not require a change of wardrobe or lifestyle if the principles of temple worthiness are understood and lived in their earlier years? A young woman who wears knee-length skirts will not have to buy a new wardrobe after she receives her endowment in the temple. A young man who anticipates going to the temple will respect the Church’s moral standards in his social behavior.
    - Understanding gospel language. What do the words endowment, ordinances, sealings, and keys really mean? The story is told of a little boy who overheard his parents discussing doing temple sealings. He asked, “Are you going to do the walls next week?”” Preparing Our Families for the Temple, Carol B. Thomas, April 1999

“We have been instructed to build temples so that holy ordinances may be performed for both the living and the dead. These ordinances include initiatory ordinances, endowments, marriages, sealings, baptisms for the dead, and ordinations.” Holy Temples, Sacred Covenants, Silvia H. Allred, October, 2008

“To secure a temple recommend, the receiver must also have demonstrated his eligibility, and that eligibility is based on personal worthiness. Once granted, it is not in place forever, but must be reissued each year. Furthermore, it is subject to forfeiture if the holder does anything which would disqualify him for its privileges” Keeping the Temple Holy, Gordon B. Hinckley, April 1990

“Everything that occurs in the temple is eternal in its consequences. We there deal with matters of immortality, with things of eternity, with things of man and his relationship to his Divine Parent and his Redeemer. Hands must be clean and hearts must be pure and thoughts concerned with the solemnities of eternity when in these sacred premises.” Keeping the Temple Holy, Gordon B. Hinckley, April 1990

Temples are a blessing that is given to us on this earth to experience something close to what it is like in Heaven.  In the temple the only thing that comes with you is what you bring.  Your experience can be as amazing as you are willing to let it be.  The covenants you make in the temple are amazing.  These covenants are very important and shouldn't be taken lightly. The covenants that we make are between us and the Lord and we are accountable to him to kept these covenants. As we attend the temple we can feel the Lords love easier and we have an opportunity to step away from all of the craziness of the world and focus on the Lord. In learning amazing things about the temple make me want to make attending more regularly a priority in my life.

Marriage

Marriage

“It is only with the companionship of the Holy Ghost that we can hope to be equally yoked in a marriage free from discord.” To My Grandchildren, Henry B. Erying, April 2013

"Because sexual intimacy is so sacred, the Lord requires self-control and purity before marriage as well as full fidelity after marriage.” Preparation Brings Blessings, Thomas S. Monson, April, 2010

“To willfully destroy a marriage, either your own or that of another couple, is to offend our God. Such a thing will not be lightly considered in the judgments of the Almighty and in the eternal scheme of things will not easily be forgiven.” Marriage, Boyd K. Packer, April, 1981

“Marriage is the shelter where families are created. That society which puts low value on marriage sows the wind and, in time, will reap the whirlwind—and thereafter, unless they repent, bring upon themselves a holocaust!” Marriage, Boyd K. Packer, April, 1981

“Marriage between a man and a women is God’s pattern for a fullness of life on earth and in heaven.” Decisions for Eternity, Elder Russell M. Nelson, October, 2013

“We know that the marriage of a man and a woman is necessary for the accomplishment of God’s plan.  Only this marriage will provide the approved setting for mortal birth and to prepare family members for eternal life.” No other Gods, Elder Dallin H. Oaks, October, 2013

“The main effects of these depreciating attitudes about the sanctity of marriage are the consequences to families—the strength of families is deteriorating at an alarming rate.” Obedience to Law Is Liberty, Elder L. Tom Perry, April, 2013

“Without marriage, the purposes of the Lord would be frustrated. Choice spirits would be withheld from the experience of mortality. And postponing marriage unduly often means limiting your posterity, and the time will come, brethren, when you will feel and know that loss.” To the Single Adult Brethren of the Church, EZRA TAFT BENSON, April 1988

“Honorable marriage is more important than wealth, position, and status. As husband and wife, you can achieve your life’s goals together. As you sacrifice for each other and your children, the Lord will bless you, and your commitment to the Lord and your service in His kingdom will be enhanced.” To the Single Adult Brethren of the Church, EZRA TAFT BENSON, April 1988

“Marriage was intended by the Lord to endure beyond physical death. His plan offers eternal perpetuation of the family in the kingdom of God. His plan provides temples and opportunities to officiate therein for the living and the dead.” Nurturing Marriage, Elder Russell M. Nelson, April, 2006

As I did the research into the topic of marriage it was amazing the information there is.  I believe that marriage is between a man and a women. That marriage is the heart of the home. Marriage is for eternity is sealed in a temple and covenants are kept.  I believe that the Lord wants everyone to have the blessing of marriage and we need to keep in tune with the Lord so that we can have the assurance that we are doing as the Lord would have us do.  Marriage is something that needs to be worked on every day.  The husband and the wife need to communicate with each other and the Lord to create an amazing relationship.

Dating

Dating

“Proper dating is a part of that preparation. In cultures where dating is appropriate, do not date until you are sixteen years old. Not all teenagers need to date or even want to. When you begin dating, go in groups or on double dates. Make sure your parents meet and become acquainted with those you date. Because dating is a preparation for marriage, date only those who have high standards.  Be careful to go to places where there is a good environment, where you won’t be faced with temptation” That We May Touch Heaven, Thomas S. Monson, October, 1990

“However, on a date you can set the proper atmosphere to encourage your companion to honor the commandments of God.” Young Women—Real Guardians, David B. Haight, October, 1977

“You young women also have a duty to serve the Lord, to honor womanhood according to the Church beliefs and not the world’s. One of your most important obligations is to be and remain clean and pure. When you are clean and pure, the young men you date will be clean and pure. If a young man makes inappropriate advances, you have a sacred obligation to say, “No. I do not do that. Please don’t ask me or try to entice me to submit to conduct that is offensive to the Lord.” Young Women—Real Guardians, David B. Haight, October, 1977

“Dating and especially steady dating in the early teens is most hazardous. It distorts the whole picture of life. It deprives you of worthwhile and rich experiences; it limits friendships; it reduces the acquaintances which can be so valuable in selecting a partner for time and eternity.” President Kimball Speaks Out on Morality, Spencer W. Kimball, October, 1980

“Clearly, right marriage begins with right dating. … Therefore, this warning comes with great emphasis. Do not take the chance of dating nonmembers, or members who are untrained and faithless. A girl may say, ‘Oh, I do not intend to marry this person. It is just a “fun” date.’ But one cannot afford to take a chance on falling in love with someone who may never accept the gospel” (The Miracle of Forgiveness, pp. 241–42). To the Young Women of the Church, Ezra Taft Benson, October, 1986

“In dating, treat your date with respect and expect your date to show that same respect for you.” Preparation Brings Blessings, April 2010 Thomas S. Monson

“There is definitely a time for the dance, for travel, for associations, for the date, and even for the steady date that will culminate in the romance which will take young people to the holy temple for eternal marriage. But it is the timing that is so vital. It is wrong to do even the right things at the wrong time in the wrong place under the wrong circumstances.” President Kimball Speaks Out on Morality, Spencer W. Kimball, October, 1980

“Our Heavenly Father wants you to date young men who are faithful members of the Church, who will be worthy to take you to the temple and be married the Lord’s way.” To the Young Women of the Church, Ezra Taft Benson, October, 1986

“There is more to a foundation of eternal marriage than a pretty face or an attractive figure. There is more to consider than popularity or charisma. As you seek an eternal companion, look for someone who is developing the essential attributes that bring happiness: a deep love of the Lord and of His commandments, a determination to live them, one that is kindly understanding, forgiving of others, and willing to give of self, with the desire to have a family crowned with beautiful children and a commitment to teach them the principles of truth in the home.” Receive the Temple Blessings, Richard G. Scott, April 1999

“A prospective husband should also honor his priesthood and use it in service to others. Seek a man who accepts his role as provider of the necessities of life, has the capacity to do it, and is making concerted efforts to prepare himself to fulfill those responsibilities.” Receive the Temple Blessings, Richard G. Scott, April 1999

It is amazing to me to see that the council has not changed in many years regarding dating.  We still need to do the same things that was counselled years ago.  In following this council we will be following what the Lord would have us do.  As we use dating to find our eternal companion we need to remember to keep things simple and find things that we have in common. As we look for someone that is like minded with us we create a great life for the both of us. Both parties are responsible for keeping things at a level the Lord will be pleased with.

Agency

Agency

“He cannot influence us unless we allow him to do so, and he knows that! The only time he can affect our minds and bodies—our very spirits—is when we allow him to do so. In other words, we do not have to succumb to his enticements!” Act for Ourselves: The Gift and Blessings of Agency, Robert D. Hales, April, 2006

“Agency used righteously allows light to dispel the darkness and enables us to live with joy and happiness in the present, look with faith to the future, even into the eternities, and not dwell on the things of the past.” Act for Ourselves: The Gift and Blessings of Agency, Robert D. Hales, April, 2006

“When you choose whether to make or keep a covenant with God, you choose whether you will leave an inheritance of hope to those who might follow your example.”  A Priceless Heritage of Hope, President Henry B. Erying, April, 2014

“Our loving Heavenly Father knows that choosing to develop a spirit of gratitude will bring us true joy and great happiness.” Grateful in Any Circumstances, President D Uchtdorf, April, 2014

“We cannot force God’s children to choose the way to happiness. God cannot do that because of the agency He has given us.” To My Grandchildren, President, Henry B. Eyring, October, 2013

“It is impossible for us to fail when we do our best when we are on the Lord’s errand. While the outcome is a result of the exercise of one’s agency, sharing the gospel is our responsibility.” Put your trust in the Lord, Elder Ballard

“Strong, proactive obedience is anything but weak or passive. It is the means by which we declare our faith in God and qualify ourselves to receive the powers of heaven. Obedience is a choice. It is a choice between our own limited knowledge and power and God’s unlimited wisdom and omnipotence” Obedience through Our Faithfulness, Elder Perry

“Each choice you and I make is a test of our agency—whether we choose to be obedient or disobedient to the commandments of God is actually a choice between “liberty and eternal life” and “captivity and death.”” Obedience to Law Is Liberty, Elder Perry

“Our agency—our ability to choose and act for ourselves—was an essential element of this plan. Without agency we would be unable to make right choices and progress. Yet with agency we could make wrong choices, commit sin, and lose the opportunity to be with Heavenly Father again.” Agency: Essential to the Plan of Life, Elder Robert D. Hales, October, 2010

“As we understand the challenge of repenting, we appreciate the blessings of the Holy Ghost to guide our agency and Heavenly Father, who gives us commandments and strengthens and sustains us in keeping them. We also understand how obedience to the commandments ultimately protects our agency.” Agency: Essential to the Plan of Life, Elder Robert D. Hales, October, 2010

In reading each talk to find the quotes that I liked best I learned many new things about agency.  I believe that the Lord was very smart in letting us have agency in our lives.  Without the opportunity or agency to make our own choices we would not be able to show that Lord that we could or are willing to make right choices.  Agency gives us the opportunity to show how much we have learned and how we are going to us that information that we have gained.  As we us agency in our lives and gain more confidence in the choices we are making.

Atonement

Atonement

“He had accomplished the Atonement, which could give immortality and eternal life to all obedient human beings. All that the Fall allowed to go awry, the Atonement allowed to go aright.” The Atonement, Russell M. Nelson, October, 1996

“When we comprehend His voluntary Atonement, any sense of sacrifice on our part becomes completely overshadowed by a profound sense of gratitude for the privilege of serving Him.” The Atonement, Russell M. Nelson, October, 1996

“There is an imperative need for each of us to strengthen our understanding of the significance of the Atonement of Jesus Christ so that it will become an unshakable foundation upon which to build our lives.” He Lives! All Glory to His Name!”, Richard G. Scott, April, 2010

“Profound personal pondering of the scriptures accompanied by searching, heartfelt prayer will fortify your understanding of and appreciation for His priceless Atonement.” He Lives! All Glory to His Name!, Richard G. Scott, April, 2010

“Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, each of us can become clean and the burden of our rebellion will be lifted.” Personal Strength through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, Elder Scott, October 2013

“If you have made mistakes, and all of us have, whether minor or serious, then you have an enormous need to find out how they can be erased so that you are no longer in darkness.” The Atonement, Boyd K Packer, October 2012

“That is the Light we offer to those who are in darkness and have lost their way. Wherever our members and missionaries may go, our message is one of faith and hope in the Savior Jesus Christ.” The Atonement, Boyd K Packer, October 2012

“Not only does the Atonement of Jesus Christ overcome the effects of the Fall of Adam and make possible the remission of our individual sins and transgressions, but His Atonement also enables us to do good and become better in ways that stretch far beyond our mortal capacities.” Bear Up Their Burdens with Ease, Elder David A. Bednar, April 2014

“But we also need to appreciate that the Lord desires, through His Atonement and by the power of the Holy Ghost, to enliven us—not only to guide but also to strengthen and heal us.” Bear Up Their Burdens with Ease, Elder David A. Bednar, April 2014

“by applying the Atonement we can continue to access the other nurturing gifts of the Holy Ghost, each with its own rich resilience.” Apply the Atoning Blood of Christ, Elder Neal A. Maxwell, October 1997

As I did the research for the atonement quotes there was lots of information to learn and understand. In reading the talks and finding the things that I liked best it was hard to narrow it down to the ones I have chosen.  The quotes I have used are my favorite ones. There is lots of information about the atonement and all it can do for you. I believe that without the atonement our world would be a very different world.  I appreciate the fact that the Lord was willing to let us make choices instead of just telling us what to do and expecting us to follow what we are told.  I think we would be like robots just doing what we are told.  We wouldn't be able to really enjoy our time on earth. I am grateful for the Lords wisdom and the opportunity to learn about the atonement.

Family

Family

“We hope that by flooding the Church with family-oriented media, members of the Church will be assisted and encouraged to build stronger and better families. We hope it will cause a conscious and sustained effort in building an eternal family unit.”  The Importance of the Family, L. Tom Perry, April, 2003.

“As you help strengthen your family, prayer must be a consistent, daily part of your life. Prayer will protect you from the adversary, give you peace, and help your families love each other more.” Strengthen Home and Family, Carol B. Thomas, April, 2002

“It is impossible to overestimate the influence of parents who understand the hearts of their children. Research shows that during the most important transitions of life—including those periods when youth are most likely to drift away from the Church—the greatest influence does not come from an interview with the bishop or some other leader but from the regular, warm, friendly, caring interaction with parents.” Our Duty to God: The Mission of Parents and Leaders to the Rising Generation, Robert D. Hales, April, 2010

“He knew that the happiness of eternal life comes through family bonds which continue forever.” The Priceless Heritage of Hope, Henry B. Erying, April, 2014

“The family relationships we have here on this earth are important, but they are much more important for their effect on our families for generations in mortality and throughout all eternity.” The Eternal Family, ROBERT D. HALES, October 1996

“The plan of the Father is that family love and companionship will continue into the eternities.” .” The Eternal Family, ROBERT D. HALES, October 1996

"We know that before this life we lived with our Heavenly Father as part of His family, and we know that family relationships can endure beyond death.”  What Matters Most Is What Lasts Longest, Elder M. Russell Ballard, October 2005

“In today’s world, where Satan’s aggression against the family is so prevalent, parents must do all they can to fortify and defend their families. But their efforts may not be enough. Our most basic institution of family desperately needs help and support from the extended family and the public institutions that surround us. Brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents and cousins can make a powerful difference in the lives of children. Remember that the expression of love and encouragement from an extended family member will often provide the right influence and help a child at a critical time.” What Matters Most is What Lasts Longest, Elder M. Russell Ballard, October 2005

“The key to strengthening our families is having the Spirit of the Lord come into our homes. The goal of our families is to be on the strait and narrow path.” Strengthening Families: Our Sacred Duty, Robert D. Hales, April 1999

“The family is strengthened as we draw near to the Lord, and each member of the family is strengthened as we lift and strengthen and love and care for one another” Strengthening Families: Our Sacred Duty, Robert D. Hales, April 1999

In doing the research for the quotes about the family I came to realize how important families are to the Lords plan.  I believe that families are the main part of the Lords plan.  We need to keep close with our families so that we can help each other with the trials that come our way.  As we work together we can create a safe place to be the people the Lord wants us to be. As our family knows what is expected of them from the Lord we are better able to help each other. Families can grow together and learn of the thing our Lord wants us to do.  As we learn of the Lords plan for us we are better able to help each other reach the goal of eternal life.

Pornography

Pornography

“Then suddenly, there appears before us in this generation a sinister and diabolical enemy—pornography. Like the bark beetle it too is the carrier of a deadly disease.”  Pornography—the Deadly Carrier, Thomas S. Monson, October, 1979

“The beetle of pornography is doing his deadly task—undercutting our will, destroying our immunity, and stifling that upward reach within each of us.” Pornography – the Deadly Carrier, Thomas S. Monson, October, 1979

“Whether it be through the printed page, movies, television, obscene lyrics, vulgarities on the telephone, or flickering personal computer screen, pornography is overpoweringly addictive and severely damaging.” To Acquire Spiritual Guidance, Richard G. Scott, October, 2009

“Participation in pornography in any of its lurid forms is a manifestation of unbridled selfishness. How can a man, particularly a priesthood bearer, not think of the emotional and spiritual damage caused to women, especially his wife, by such abhorrent activity?” To Acquire Spiritual Guidance, Richard G. Scott, October, 2009

“Pornography is not some titillating feast for the eyes that gives a momentary rush of excitement. [Rather] it has the effect of damaging hearts and souls to their very depths, strangling the life out of relationships that should be sacred, hurting to the very core those you should love the most.” A  Tragic Evil Among Us, President Gordon B. Hinckley, October, 2004

“[Pornography] is like a raging storm, destroying individuals and families, utterly ruining what was once wholesome and beautiful.” A Tragic Evil Among Us, President Gordon B. Hinckley, October, 2004

“Pornography will always repel the Spirit of Christ and will interrupt the communications between our Heavenly Father and His children and disrupt the tender relationship between husband and wife.” Cleansing the Inner Vessel, Boyd K. Packer, October, 2010

“Priesthood holders carry with them the antidote to remove the terrible images of pornography and to wash away guilt. The priesthood has the power to unlock the influence of our habits, even to unchain from addiction, however tight the grip. It can heal over the scars of past mistakes.” Cleansing the Inner Vessel, Boyd K. Packer, October, 2010

“the evil one also dangles before us the maka-feke of pornography. He would have us believe that the viewing of pornography really hurts no one.” True to the Faith, Thomas S. Monson, April, 2006

“Avoid any semblance of pornography. It will desensitize the spirit and erode the conscience.” Thomas S. Monson, April, 2006

In doing the research to find my quotes on pornography. I realized what a great problem this is in the world today.  This is something that is very easy to start and hard to leave behind.  I think that this may become the new #1 reason for divorces and break ups.  With the internet at the disposal of anyone at any age it can be something that would be easy to find even by accident. It would be easy for someone to see something that would be classified as pornography without even realizing it. I believe that pornography is a real problem and that we need to make a better effort to say away from anything that could be classified as pornography.  We need to realize how easy it is see things that we don’t wish to.  Images stay in our minds much longer than we realize. We need to do our research before we decide to watch a movie or go to any websites.
