Pornography

Pornography

“Then suddenly, there appears before us in this generation a sinister and diabolical enemy—pornography. Like the bark beetle it too is the carrier of a deadly disease.”  Pornography—the Deadly Carrier, Thomas S. Monson, October, 1979

“The beetle of pornography is doing his deadly task—undercutting our will, destroying our immunity, and stifling that upward reach within each of us.” Pornography – the Deadly Carrier, Thomas S. Monson, October, 1979

“Whether it be through the printed page, movies, television, obscene lyrics, vulgarities on the telephone, or flickering personal computer screen, pornography is overpoweringly addictive and severely damaging.” To Acquire Spiritual Guidance, Richard G. Scott, October, 2009

“Participation in pornography in any of its lurid forms is a manifestation of unbridled selfishness. How can a man, particularly a priesthood bearer, not think of the emotional and spiritual damage caused to women, especially his wife, by such abhorrent activity?” To Acquire Spiritual Guidance, Richard G. Scott, October, 2009

“Pornography is not some titillating feast for the eyes that gives a momentary rush of excitement. [Rather] it has the effect of damaging hearts and souls to their very depths, strangling the life out of relationships that should be sacred, hurting to the very core those you should love the most.” A  Tragic Evil Among Us, President Gordon B. Hinckley, October, 2004

“[Pornography] is like a raging storm, destroying individuals and families, utterly ruining what was once wholesome and beautiful.” A Tragic Evil Among Us, President Gordon B. Hinckley, October, 2004

“Pornography will always repel the Spirit of Christ and will interrupt the communications between our Heavenly Father and His children and disrupt the tender relationship between husband and wife.” Cleansing the Inner Vessel, Boyd K. Packer, October, 2010

“Priesthood holders carry with them the antidote to remove the terrible images of pornography and to wash away guilt. The priesthood has the power to unlock the influence of our habits, even to unchain from addiction, however tight the grip. It can heal over the scars of past mistakes.” Cleansing the Inner Vessel, Boyd K. Packer, October, 2010

“the evil one also dangles before us the maka-feke of pornography. He would have us believe that the viewing of pornography really hurts no one.” True to the Faith, Thomas S. Monson, April, 2006

“Avoid any semblance of pornography. It will desensitize the spirit and erode the conscience.” Thomas S. Monson, April, 2006

In doing the research to find my quotes on pornography. I realized what a great problem this is in the world today.  This is something that is very easy to start and hard to leave behind.  I think that this may become the new #1 reason for divorces and break ups.  With the internet at the disposal of anyone at any age it can be something that would be easy to find even by accident. It would be easy for someone to see something that would be classified as pornography without even realizing it. I believe that pornography is a real problem and that we need to make a better effort to say away from anything that could be classified as pornography.  We need to realize how easy it is see things that we don’t wish to.  Images stay in our minds much longer than we realize. We need to do our research before we decide to watch a movie or go to any websites.
